Merlion of Singapore, The Beautiful Coincidence

Giza's Great Pyramid and The Great Sphinx, the structures well known throughout the world. Even when the Great Pyramid has made its way to become only remaining of the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World, it's mythical attraction and all the mysteries and questions surrounding it never cease.

Earth goes through a complete cycle of precession of the equinoxes in approximately 26,000 years or 1 degree every 72 years. Graham Hancock disclosed the Sphinx was constructed during the era of Leo, around 10,500BC. This conclusion came from the observation of the star constellation with the help of computer simulations. The Great Sphinx was constructed based on the image of Leo and it is glazing into the East, where the sun rises. It is constructed with the knowledge of astronomy and perhaps with the application of astrology. He also pointed out that Angkor Wat, another world known ancient structure in Cambodia, is located 72 degree apart in terms of longitude (103E) from where the great Pyramid and the great Sphinx are located. Angkor Wat is oriented to an East-West axis.

What does this have to do with Singapore? First of all, along the longitude of 103E, we can see there are some other major cities situated along this grid. In particular, almost the whole Singapore is sitting within longitude 103E. Does it mean Singapore has a natural potential to become really great? Singapore's mascot and national personification, the Merlion, is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. Coincidently, the commonalities between the Sphinx and the Merlion are both have a lion factor in them, and both of them were aligned to face East. The Sphinx was built during the era of Leo with the image of the Lion, that is more than 12,000 years ago. Some said we are now in the era of Pisces while others suggested now is the era of Aquarius. Either way, we can see the images of both in the mythical Merlion. The body of a fish symbolising the Pisces and the water feature surely bears some image of Aquarius. That could be a very good way to solve the issue of the era confusion or era transition.

Some argue that certain parts of Singapore are more developed than the other parts. If we map the Pisces constellation onto the map of Singapore, it can perhaps stimulate our thinkings regarding how the country connects with the outside world. The North is the causeway connecting to Johor Bahru, the South of West Malaysia. Large number of people travel to and fro the 2 countries via this route even after a second link was built years later to ease the traffic of the causeway. In the East of Singapore, there is the ever expanding world famous Singapore Changi Airport. In 2011, it has served more than 46 millions passengers. South of Singapore is where one of the world busiest port is located. It connects to over 600 other ports in 123 countries spreading over six continents.

Ultimately, the success of a country will depend on its people and a clean and effective government.

Next time when you visit Singapore, do remember to check out the Merlion and you might want to bring a souvenir of this auspicious creature back home.
